Volunteerism award presented to Annmarie Babicki

SeniorsPlus volunteer Annmarie Babicki was honored with the 2026 Margaret Ross Award at our Annual Meeting on June 29.

Annmarie has volunteered for SeniorsPlus for four years, serving more than 175 hours in 2025 alone. She volunteers as a Medicare counselor and in the Money Minders program, which assists older adults in paying bills and managing budgets.

“Her help during open enrollment was vital and helped SeniorsPlus reach more consumers which in turn helps assist them in making informed decisions about their Medicare,” said Brandi Connor-Vargeson, Medicare Supervisor. “Annmarie is always willing to assist wherever she is needed and always makes the consumer the main priority.”

Diane Woods, Community Services Specialist, said that Annmarie is “patient, kind, and persistent. She takes the time needed for each consumer, and each consumer’s situation is unique.”

In her nomination letter, Connor-Vargeson said Annmarie exemplifies the SeniorsPlus mission of helping clients make informed decisions, stay within their community/homes, while supporting their independence.

Annmarie also volunteers at the hospital, bird aviary, and this year she has started helping with taxes as well.

The Margaret Ross Award is presented annually to a SeniorsPlus volunteer in recognition of outstanding community service. The award was established in 2010 to recognize a volunteer who has made significant contributions to SeniorsPlus and the larger community. Margaret Ross was a member of the SeniorsPlus Board of Directors and a volunteer Medicare counselor who contributed over 700 hours per year to SeniorsPlus, in addition to volunteer involvement with CMMC College of Nursing and Health Professions, the statewide Maine Association of Retirees, the philanthropic Women’s Hospital Association of CMMC, and Maine Public Television.
