Campaign Vision
Nationwide, the demand for in-home support for older adults and individuals with disabilities is increasing, but in Maine—the oldest state in the nation—this need is especially urgent.
For more than 50 years, SeniorsPlus has been committed to helping this growing demographic live fulfilling, independent lives in their preferred communities, ensuring they receive the respect and engagement they deserve.
Looking to the decades to come, we see the demand for resources increasing as our diverse community grows. People are living longer than ever before, seeking inspiration for continued growth – physically, cognitively, and socially.
The planned construction of the Education and Nutrition Center at SeniorsPlus is the first step to creating an exciting future for our community. Contribute to the Encompass Campaign!
Supporting our communities today and for the future: We are excited to launch a capital campaign for a new facility featuring a cutting-edge kitchen for Meals on Wheels and a larger education center to address the rising needs in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties.
Encompass: Education & Nutrition Center
With more than 20 percent of the population over 65, according to the US Census Bureau, Maine has the oldest median age in the nation. Officially, this makes Maine the oldest state in the nation. With healthcare advances enabling people to live well into their 90s and beyond, we need to prepare for increased demand to support this population. Combating loneliness and isolation–the two leading causes of depression among older adults–and providing access to consistent, nutritious food, are critical issues in Maine where 10.3 percent of older Mainers face food insecurity.
