Frank Danforth receives 2022 volunteerism award

Frank Danforth of Auburn was honored at the June 27 annual meeting of SeniorsPlus.  Danforth was the recipient of the 2022 Margaret Ross Award for his three years of volunteerism for Meals on Wheels at SeniorsPlus. The award, presented annually, recognizes an individual that has made significant contributions to the agency and the larger community. SeniorsPlus is the designated Area Agency on Aging focusing on Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties.

As a Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer, Danforth delivers meals to homebound clients of SeniorsPlus and also checks in on their well-being. Throughout the pandemic, he continued to work, putting his concern and health of others before his own, winning the gratitude of his clients.

“Frank’s clients often comment on how they feel cared for by Frank and that he shows real concern for them. They are comforted by his presence every week,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, President and CEO of SeniorsPlus. “With COVID, our volunteer delivery pool dropped dramatically and Frank doubled some of his routes to help us out. Really amazing.”
