Blog—The Plus Side: Celebrating Family Caregivers

The month of November is dedicated to recognizing National Family Caregivers. The theme for 2025 is “Plug Into Care,” which aims to simplify connections with resources, peer networks, and trusted tools. At SeniorsPlus, we understand the challenges that come with caregiving and are committed to providing support groups, resources, and honoring the dedication of those who care for their loved ones.

Celebrating Family Caregivers enables all of us to:

  • Raise awareness of family caregiver issues
  • Celebrate the efforts of family caregivers
  • Educate family caregivers about self-care
  • Increase support
  • Reduce feelings of isolation

November is also observed annually as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. With more than 6.2 million Americans living with it, it is a time to raise awareness, advocate for research and encourage early detection. Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most significant health crises of our time and where there is no cure, it is important to promote educational events, fundraisers, awareness walks, and distribution of information and resources.

Teal is the awareness color for Alzheimer’s, chosen by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). Studies in color psychology suggest that teal has a calming effect, creating welcoming and comforting environments for individuals living with Alzheimer’s. The next time you see someone wearing teal, remember the millions affected by Alzheimer’s and the support they need.

SeniorsPlus was excited to participate in the 2025 annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s that collectively raised over $42,000 to be part of the cure in the Lakes and Mountains Region. By raising awareness and supporting research, we can work together to make Alzheimer’s a disease of the past.
