Volunteer opportunities at SeniorsPlus

Your time can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults across Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to match different interests, schedules, and skill sets.


Advisory Council

We are currently recruiting new Advisory Council members, with a priority focus on individuals who reside in Franklin County.

Representation from Franklin County is essential to ensure all communities in our region have a voice in shaping Older Americans Act programs, identifying service gaps, and advocating for older adults.

Commitment:
• Attend five meetings per year
• Engage with local, state, and federal elected officials


Friendly Callers

Do you have 10 minutes to one hour available each week? Be a friendly voice for community members who may not have family support.

Friendly Callers provide weekly telephone conversations that help clients overcome social isolation and loneliness. Call days and times are arranged by mutual agreement between the volunteer and the client.


Meals on Wheels—Backup Delivery Drivers
Mileage reimbursed at $0.54 per mile

Want to volunteer occasionally? We are seeking backup Meals on Wheels delivery drivers in Androscoggin, Oxford, and Franklin counties.

Days: Monday–Thursday
Time: 9 a.m.–noon
Meal pickup locations vary by county and distribution center


Meals on Wheels Delivery Drivers—Androscoggin County
Mileage reimbursed at $0.54 per mile

Our Lewiston Distribution Center is seeking volunteers for the following routes:
• Tuesdays in Lewiston: approximately 90 minutes
• Wednesdays in Mechanic Falls: approximately 2.5 hours
• Thursdays in Lewiston: approximately 60 minutes


Meals on Wheels Delivery Drivers—Franklin County
Mileage reimbursed at $0.54 per mile

Our Jay Distribution Center is seeking volunteers for:
• Thursdays in the Rangeley area: approximately 3 hours


Money Minders

Assist clients in their homes with managing monthly bill payments and overall finances. This program provides peace of mind and financial stability to older adults. Days and times are arranged by mutual agreement between the volunteer and client


Medicare Counselors

Provide confidential assistance to clients navigating the Medicare system. Volunteers help individuals understand their options and review Medicare coverage. All training is provided


Social Dining Site Assistant

Looking for a volunteer opportunity just 2–4 hours per month? Social Dining Site Assistants support SeniorsPlus staff during meal service. Duties include setting and cleaning tables, assisting with plating and serving meals, and post-meal clean-up. Training is provided.

Current locations and schedules:
• Rumford Island Housing on Mondays, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. (tentative start: January 5, 2026)
• Industry Town Office on the third Thursday of the month (10 a.m.–2 p.m.; pickup and return in Jay)
• Meadowview, Lewiston on Tuesdays, approximately 2–2.5 hours weekly
• Barker Mills, Auburn, twice monthly on Tuesdays, approximately 2–2.5 hours


Wilton Office Reception Support

Our Wilton office is seeking volunteers to assist with office and reception support. Requirements include basic typing skills and general knowledge of Microsoft programs.

Current needs:
• Norway office: Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.–noon
• Wilton office: Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.; Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 12:30–4 p.m.

SeniorsPlus has volunteer positions for everyone. No particular experience needed – just enthusiasm and dedication. We work to find a happy fit for you. Some volunteers wish to work in an area that they are knowledgeable about, others want to hit the reset button and try something new.

Opportunities range from administrative support in the office, delivering meals with our Meals on Wheels program, helping clients understand Medicare options, and helping manage household budgets.
