Volunteer Opportunities at SeniorsPlus

Friendly Caller Program

Do you have 10 minutes to one hour each week? Be a friendly voice to someone who may be feeling isolated.
As a Friendly Caller, you’ll help clients combat loneliness by connecting weekly by phone.

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes to 1 hour per week
  • Schedule: Mutually agreed upon between caller and client
  • Location: Remote / from your own home

Meals on Wheels Delivery Drivers

Help deliver nutritious meals and a warm smile to older adults and adults with disabilities across Western Maine.

  • Counties Served: Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9 AM–12 PM
  • Mileage Reimbursement: 54¢ per mile
  • Pickup: At designated distribution centers based on your assigned route

🔹 Backup Drivers Needed:
Perfect for those who want to help but can’t commit to a weekly schedule.

🔹 Temporary Driver – Lewiston Route:
A route is currently open in Lewiston on Mondays, for about 45 minutes weekly. This temporary role runs through early August.

Medicare Counselors – Fryeburg Area

Provide confidential assistance to clients navigating the Medicare system.

  • Responsibilities: Help review and explain Medicare coverage options
  • Training: All training provided
  • Location: Fryeburg area

Money Minders Program

Assist clients with managing their monthly bills and personal finances.

  • Setting: In the client’s home
  • Schedule: Mutually agreed upon between volunteer and client
  • Training: Provided

Social Dining Site Assistant

Help create a welcoming environment at our meal sites by assisting with meal service, collecting donations, and clean-up.

  • Time: Typically 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Frequency: Weekly or bi-weekly depending on location

Current Openings:

  • Lewiston (Bates Street Housing): Thursdays, every other week
  • Rumford (Island Housing): Mondays, start date TBD
  • Industry (Town Office): Third Thursday of the month (includes travel to/from Jay, 10 AM – 2 PM)

Office Reception Support

Support the daily operations of our Lewiston, Norway, or Wilton offices. Volunteers should be comfortable with basic typing and Microsoft Office.

Lewiston Office:

  • Monday and Thursday afternoons: 1 PM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM or 1 PM – 4:30 PM

Norway Office:

  • Thursday: 12 PM – 4 PM

Wilton Office:

  • Tuesday and Thursday: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM – 4 PM

SeniorsPlus has volunteer positions for everyone. No particular experience needed – just enthusiasm and dedication. We work to find a happy fit for you. Some volunteers wish to work in an area that they are knowledgeable about, others want to hit the reset button and try something new.

Opportunities range from administrative support in the office, delivering meals with our Meals on Wheels program, helping clients understand Medicare options, and helping manage household budgets.

Our Volunteer Coordinator is happy to speak with you and help you decide the best volunteer fit.
